Privacy Policy
Last reviewed: 1 October 2026
Effective date: 1 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Leaning Technologies Limited (“Leaning Technologies”, “we”, “us” and “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you visit the CheerpJ website at cheerpj.com, including its contact forms (together, the “Website”).
It does not cover CheerpJ itself, or other websites and applications that use CheerpJ. The CheerpJ browser extensions have their own policies: the CheerpJ Applet Runner Privacy Policy and the CheerpJ JNLP Runner Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
CheerpJ is a trading name of Leaning Technologies Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 08227826. Our registered office is Nexus, Discovery Way, Leeds, England, LS2 3AA. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
The Website may link to or embed content from third-party websites that we do not control. Those third parties handle data under their own privacy policies, so we encourage you to review them.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you fill in a contact form on the Website or email us, you may provide your name, email address, company details and the content of your message. When you submit a contact form, we also send our customer relationship management system, HubSpot CRM, the address and title of the page you sent it from and your IP address. If you have accepted cookies, we also send HubSpot’s cookie identifier, so that your form submission can be linked to your earlier visits to the Website.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Website, we may automatically collect usage information, including your IP address, browser type and language, operating system, device type, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, links followed, time spent on pages, and the date and time of requests.
We measure visits with Plausible Analytics, which we host ourselves. Plausible does not use cookies and does not identify you: it records page views, referring pages, links you follow to other websites, contact form submissions, and your browser, operating system, device type and country. Your IP address is used only to derive your country and to count unique visits within a day, and is not stored.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how people use the Website and to measure the effectiveness of our marketing and advertising. These technologies are loaded through Google Tag Manager and run only after you accept cookies:
- Google Analytics, which helps us measure visits and engagement on the Website.
- HubSpot tracking, which we use for marketing analytics. HubSpot may set cookies including
hubspotutk,__hstc,__hsscand__hssrc, and may link your browsing activity on the Website to your contact record if you submit a form. - The LinkedIn Insight Tag and the Meta Pixel, which help us measure the results of our advertising on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, and reach people who have visited the Website. They may set cookies and send LinkedIn and Meta information about your visit.
Some technologies are needed for the Website to work, and do not depend on your choice:
- Our consent cookie,
site_consent, which stores your cookie choice for one year. - Cloudflare Turnstile, which protects our contact forms from automated abuse. When a form is loaded, your IP address, user agent and challenge response are sent to Cloudflare to verify that you are not a bot. Turnstile is not used for analytics or advertising.
Some content is loaded from other providers when you open a page, whatever your cookie choice. These providers receive your IP address and information about your browser:
- Google Tag Manager, the script that loads the technologies above once you accept cookies. It is loaded on every page, but sets no cookies and runs none of those technologies until you accept.
- Fonts from Google Fonts, loaded on every page.
- Embedded YouTube videos, on pages that contain one. They use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which sets no cookies when the page loads; YouTube may store information on your device once you play a video.
You can accept or reject cookies in the cookie banner, and change your choice at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate, secure and improve the Website;
- respond to enquiries and other communications;
- follow up with you about CheerpJ and our related products and services after you contact us, and manage our relationships with prospective customers, customers and partners;
- understand how people discover CheerpJ and use the Website;
- measure the performance of our marketing and advertising campaigns; and
- detect abuse, protect our rights and users, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Our Lawful Bases
Under the UK GDPR, we rely on:
- legitimate interests, to operate and secure the Website, measure its use with Plausible, respond to enquiries, and manage and follow up on business relationships, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
- consent, for the optional cookies and similar technologies described above (Google Analytics, HubSpot tracking, the LinkedIn Insight Tag and the Meta Pixel);
- contract, where we need to process information to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or to perform one; and
- legal obligation, where the law requires us to process information.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only where reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including with:
- affiliates and group companies that help us operate or support CheerpJ;
- service providers and subprocessors, listed in section 6, that host the Website, run our customer relationship management system, or provide analytics and tag management for us;
- advertising platforms, LinkedIn and Meta, where you have accepted cookies. They receive information about your visit through their tags and may also use it for their own purposes, as described in their own privacy policies;
- professional advisers, regulators, courts, law enforcement or other authorities where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, property, safety or the Website; and
- a buyer, successor or other transaction counterparty if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation or sale of all or part of our business.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Hosting, Data Location and Subprocessors
The Website is served through Cloudflare’s global infrastructure, at the data centre closest to you. Our key subprocessors for the Website currently include:
- Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts and delivers the Website and provides the Turnstile challenge that protects our contact forms.
- Google LLC, which provides website analytics, tag management and web fonts (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Fonts).
- HubSpot, Inc., which provides our customer relationship management system (HubSpot CRM), where contact form submissions are stored, and marketing analytics tracking. Our HubSpot account is configured with EU data residency, although some processing may also take place on HubSpot’s global infrastructure.
Some of these providers, and LinkedIn and Meta, may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, Standard Contractual Clauses or UK adequacy regulations.
7. Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to resolve disputes, enforce agreements and comply with legal obligations. We may continue to use information that has been anonymised or aggregated so that it is no longer personal data. More specifically:
- Google Analytics keeps data about your visits to the Website for fourteen (14) months;
- contact form submissions and correspondence are kept in HubSpot CRM until one year after your last interaction with us, and are then deleted, unless you become a customer, in which case we keep them for as long as our relationship continues;
- Plausible does not store personal data; and
- cookies are kept for the periods set by each provider, and our consent cookie for one year.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Under the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and other applicable data protection laws, you may have the right to:
- be informed about how your personal information is used;
- access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected;
- have your personal information deleted in certain circumstances;
- restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- object to processing, including an unconditional right to object to direct marketing;
- data portability, where applicable; and
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.
You can change your cookie choice at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. You can also manage cookies in your browser settings, and review the privacy controls offered by HubSpot, LinkedIn and Meta.
If we email you after you contact us, you can opt out of further emails at any time using the link in the email or by contacting us.
To exercise your rights, please contact us at [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
9. Security
We use commercially reasonable physical, technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last reviewed” and “Effective date” at the top of this page.
11. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or about how we handle your personal data, please contact us at [email protected].
